FAQ: EXORDIUM: Origins of Mythos

So what are these Mythic Paths?

Mythic Paths are an additional source of power, like a second subclass. At the same time, each Mythic Path is infused with a story of legend that the character will have to live through, progressing in it through undergoing Mythic Trials. Mythic Paths do not advance by gaining experience points, but rather by accomplishing epic quests. There are no prerequisites to choosing a Mythic Path, meaning that a Barbarian can become a Prophet, as much as a Sorcerer can become a Warlord.

Is this a new TTRPG system?

No, Mythic Paths are simply an addition to any 5e campaign, that can take it to the next level. They are designed to be simple to add and feature flavorful mechanics that tell a story. Their unique growth puts character development forward instead of being based on experience point accumulation.

They are created to also be compatible with One D&D.

How compatible is it with my story?

Mythic Paths can be added to any 5e table that wants to push an epic narrative forward. They are easy to implement even mid-campaign. They aim to equip players with flavorful abilities that do not make them way too strong, so that they can play in any party, even if other characters do not follow a Mythic Path.

What levels is the book for?

Mythic Paths can be used at any level from 1 to 20. They can be used to equip characters with the power to shape the world, even at lower levels. At the same time, they can be used to simulate character progression past level 20.

Are these the Pathfinder Mythic Paths?

While they have been inspired by Pathfinder’s Mythic Paths, their implementation in EXORDIUM is quite different. They too grow along your character’s regular class, but each has its own specific trials that complete the mythos. In this way, we opted to enrich each Mythic Path’s flavor further and make it unique. This is done further by incorporating Mythic Talents.

What are Mythic Talents?

They are actually feats that are available only to Mythic Heroes (hence the need to differentiate them). A Mythic Hero gains a Mythic Talent every time they increase their Mythic Rank (you do not get a talent as soon as you get a Mythic Path, so the total number of your Mythic Talents should always be one less than your Mythic Rank).

What’s the difference between a Nemesis and a Mythic Monster?

A Nemesis is the “big bad” of a whole campaign. Their very purpose is to antagonize the party. They also have traits that affect the entire world, just by being part of your campaign! Through the Legacy system, they are deeply incorporated into the story to shape it, culminating in a final confrontation with the Mythic Heroes.

Mythic Monsters are simpler encounters. While both Mythic Monsters and Nemesi have a Mythic Traits (a 2nd, sometimes a 3rd phase in combat) Mythic Monsters are not as much of a vital part of the narrative of the story as a Nemesis. They are in essence, monsters specifically made to fuel the mythos element of your campaign.

What will the GM Screen feature?

1/3 of the DM side of the screen will feature a handful of basic information from standard D&D rules, such as conditions, cover rules and a few other things. The other 2/3 will be quick references to the new mechanics found in EXORDIUM such as Woes of the Nemesis, the Legacy bonuses/penalties, how Mythic Traits work and more.

I have never backed a Kickstarter before, how does it work?

First, you back the project here on Kickstarter. That means that you support us in making the project, and that you will get rewards depending on the amount of your backing.

After the Kickstarter campaign is over, it will take a couple of weeks until you will get an invitation to the BackerKit pledge manager. This will be sent to your mail address you use on Kickstarter, so make sure this is an address you check regularly!

Follow the link you get, and you will see the Backer Survey. Here you enter the necessary information we will need to ship the products to you - that will usually just be your shipping address. You will also get the chance to change your pledge to a higher one if you would like to, or to add add-ons. Afterwards you proceed to pay for shipping, the amount depending on which country you want the physical rewards to be shipped to.

When you are done with your Backer Survey and paid for shipping or any potential upgrades to your pledge, you are all done on your side! The rest is on us. We’ll make sure to finish production and manufacturing as soon as possible, and send your rewards to you.

We will stay in touch with updates and calls to action if there’s anything you need to do throughout the entire process, so you always know what you have to do. And don’t worry, it’s not complicated!

Does the book contain AI images?

No. We never even considered it. We will always support real artists, and our books will always have real art.

When will I be charged?

After the Kickstarter campaign ends on November 9th, Kickstarter will charge your chosen payment method automatically. If you’ve picked a physical reward, remember that you’ll still need to cover shipping (check our estimated prices) and any applicable sales tax. The exact amount depends on your order, location, and local tax rates. BackerKit will calculate this for you when it’s time to fulfill orders.

How do I get the add-ons like for example the Deck of Fates?

When you choose a pledge tier, you can add add-ons. If you don’t choose them, you can hit ‘manage your pledge’, ‘change your pledge’, and add them. You’ll have another chance to increase your pledge and purchase add-ons when we send out our backerkit surveys, so don’t worry about missing out.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
